You can visit Sainte-Chapelle with a stroller, but the easiest route from Saint-Michel–Notre-Dame is the one that avoids unnecessary Metro changes and steep stairs. Paris pavements around major sights are generally usable with a stroller, while the harder part is often getting out of an older Metro station.

Notre-Dame stands on Île de la Cité. Cité Metro station is on the island, while Saint-Michel–Notre-Dame is across/alongside the river connections and serves RER lines.

Use the surface route once you are close

From Saint-Michel–Notre-Dame, it is usually better to stay above ground for the final approach to Sainte-Chapelle instead of taking another one-stop Metro ride. You avoid carrying the stroller through gates and stairs, and you can stop when the child needs a break.

Make the route easier

  • Use a lightweight stroller if possible.
  • Keep one hand free for stairs and gates.
  • Check elevator status before relying on a lift.
  • Avoid rush hour if you can; crowded platforms make boarding with a stroller harder.
  • A bus can be a good alternative when the Metro route involves several staircases.

Where the difficult part usually is

The difficult part is usually the station, not the attraction area itself. If a station exit has a long staircase, taking a slightly farther exit with an escalator or lift can be worth the extra surface walk. When the child is asleep, this difference matters even more.
